PVC Butterfly Valve is a versatile and energy-efficient product suitable for various industries such as water treatment, chemical processing, and power generation. With a simple design and low operation torque, this valve is easy to operate and maintain, making it an ideal choice for both small and large-scale applications...
Solid supplies PVC Butterfly Valves for water, wastewater and compatible chemical-liquid piping systems where corrosion resistance and a non-metallic valve body are required.
Our currently published configurations include PVC-U and C-PVC material options, PN10 and PN16 pressure classes, and manual, worm-gear, electric and pneumatic operation. Wafer connection information is available for DIN PN10, ANSI Class 150 and JIS 10K flange systems.

PVC-U is commonly selected for water, wastewater, seawater and compatible chemical-liquid systems where operating temperature remains within the allowable range of the material.
CPVC is considered when the service temperature exceeds the practical range of PVC-U while a thermoplastic valve is still required.
Do not select between PVC-U and CPVC by temperature alone. The fluid must also be compatible with the valve body, disc and seat material.
A material recommendation should be based on this complete combination rather than a general statement such as “acid resistant” or “alkali resistant.”
The published PVC Butterfly Valve pressure options include PN10 and PN16.
For thermoplastic valves, however, nominal pressure at reference temperature should not be interpreted as the allowable pressure at every operating temperature. Material strength decreases as temperature rises, so the allowable working pressure may need to be reduced.
When requesting a valve for elevated-temperature service, specify both:
maximum operating pressure + maximum operating temperature.
Do not use the valve at the highest pressure and highest temperature independently unless that combination is confirmed by the applicable pressure-temperature data.
The existing product information lists wafer compatibility with:
DIN PN10;
ANSI Class 150;
JIS 10K.
For a replacement valve, provide:
DN + flange standard + pressure class + existing face-to-face dimension.
This reduces the risk of receiving a valve that matches the nominal pipe diameter but does not fit the existing flange arrangement.
If your project requires another connection or flange configuration, send the pipeline drawing for technical confirmation.
The valve seat is a critical wetted component and should be selected together with the thermoplastic body and disc.
EPDM is commonly considered for water and many aqueous-fluid applications.
Before selecting EPDM, confirm:
water or process-fluid composition;
operating temperature;
additives or treatment chemicals;
any potable-water approval requirement.
EPDM should not automatically be specified for oils or hydrocarbons simply because the PVC body is corrosion resistant.
Fluoroelastomer materials are commonly considered where a different chemical-resistance profile is required.
The existing Solid product information uses both FPM and Viton terminology. Because these terms can refer to the same fluoroelastomer material family rather than two fundamentally different seat types, specify the actual required elastomer grade or fluid condition when requesting a quotation.
For chemical applications, valve compatibility is determined by the complete wetted-material combination. Selecting a chemically resistant seat cannot compensate for an incompatible PVC body or disc.
PVC-U construction avoids the external and internal rust associated with ferrous valve bodies, which makes PVC butterfly valves useful in compatible water and wastewater piping.
Selection should still consider pressure, temperature, flange standard and seat compatibility.
Where the project is for potable water, state the required drinking-water approval with the RFQ. Do not assume that a company-level certificate automatically applies to the requested valve configuration.
PVC can be considered where resistance to saline-water corrosion is an important requirement.
The buyer should still confirm the shaft, disc and seat materials because a plastic body alone does not establish the corrosion resistance of every internal component.
Provide salinity, temperature and operating pressure for material review.
PVC Butterfly Valves can be considered for compatible acids, alkalis and chemical solutions, but chemical name alone is not sufficient for selection.
Provide both concentration and temperature.
For example, two solutions containing the same chemical can require different material decisions when concentration or temperature changes.
Quarter-turn operation and wafer installation can make a PVC Butterfly Valve practical for larger-diameter water lines where a compact shut-off valve is preferred.
Confirm flange compatibility and allowable working pressure before specifying the valve for pumps, filters or treatment-system pipework.
A PVC Butterfly Valve should not automatically be selected for:
high-temperature service;
steam or hot vapor;
high-pressure service outside the confirmed pressure-temperature range;
fluids that are incompatible with the PVC body, disc or elastomer;
abrasive slurry unless the valve configuration has been specifically approved for that duty.
For these conditions, another thermoplastic material or a metal butterfly valve may be more appropriate.
The correct decision should be based on medium, concentration, temperature, pressure and solids content rather than corrosion resistance alone.
The existing Solid product information confirms several order-specific options.
Customers can provide drawings for production review, and custom size requirements can be evaluated where technically reasonable.
The product page also confirms options for:
customer logo;
drawing-based production;
size customization;
packaging and transportation-form adjustment.
For non-standard requirements, send the drawing and specification before quotation so dimensional and material feasibility can be checked.
The currently published pressure-test data is:
| Nominal Pressure | Shell Test | Seal Test |
|---|---|---|
| PN10 / 1.0 MPa | 1.5 MPa | 1.1 MPa |
| PN16 / 1.6 MPa | 2.4 MPa | 1.76 MPa |
The existing product information also states that valves are factory tested for leakage.
If your project requires a particular testing standard, inspection certificate or acceptance procedure, state this requirement before ordering so the applicable documentation can be confirmed.
Not automatically. Thermoplastic pressure capability normally decreases as temperature increases. Provide the maximum pressure and maximum fluid temperature together for confirmation.
Selection depends mainly on fluid compatibility, operating temperature and pressure. CPVC is generally considered for higher-temperature service, but the actual medium must also be compatible with the body, disc and seat.
Provide the exact chemical, concentration and temperature. A chemically suitable elastomer alone does not make the complete valve compatible if the PVC body or disc is unsuitable.
Electric and pneumatic operation are listed options. Provide actuator voltage/control requirements or pneumatic supply/fail-position requirements together with DN and pressure.
For PVC Butterfly Valve sizing and material confirmation, send your medium, temperature, pressure, DN, connection standard and operation requirements.
